B&M (pre-game) Drill
« on: December 20, 2017, 01:31:30 PM »
When you get to the table, do you "rush in where angels fear to tread" or assess the prevailing conditions first?
There is much to consider, before putting COTT!
For instance,
Wheel type, and approximate age
Ball size/density.
Left or Right hand wheels (to player)
Left or Right hand wheels (to dealer)
Left or Right handed dealers.
Clockwise spin direction strong/average/weak.
Antilock spin direction strong/average/weak.
Predominant rotor velocity, (left/right)
Ball (launch velocity) high/medium.
Launch type, snap, sweep (or amateur, throw!)
Launch delivery, smooth/fluid or staccato/rough
Croupier competency rating (high-5 to low-1).
Busy table/Slow table.
Average spin to spin cycle timings.
There are a few other prerequisites for easing comfortably into a game, but such preparation and observation costs nothing, and adds to the repertoire of the educated player.
PS, Never consume alcohol while playing, as it leads to crashes without pile-ups!

Nice topic Fyodor.
Pre-game drill will differ according to your planned approach. Yes, you do look at the current variables on the table but only concentrate on the ones that will have an impact on your approach.

I would recommend watching the table for at least twelve spins in order to select a good entry point; just a average, could be more or could be less.

The more detailed observations will be beneficial to those playing the wheel directly (visual ballistics). Playing large sections of the wheel may not require such detailed preparation but the more you are aware of playing conditions the better it will be for your game.

I agree on alcohol.  Sipping it can help keep the mind sharp and clear.  I believe this can also help with intuition (part of our decision making process).

However, the dangers cannot be understated and its possible that just a "little bit" too much can allow losses that otherwise would have been avoided?

I have the benefit that the computer of my B&M casino reports continuous the  stats of the last 50 spins. I can start my game immediately on 4 different tables
