Random Thread
« on: April 11, 2017, 03:13:43 PM »
I am at this excellent forum only since a few months and I am sure there are many interesting ideas I haven't found yet because I don't have the time to read all old threads from the beginning on.

Yes, I have found "How to win at roulette - best forum topics" but maybe they are not the best for ME.

Is it possible to create a "pick a random thread" button?
So from time to time I could poke a little.

Thank you.

http://forum.roulette30.com/index.php?action=who

Click the above link and you will see a "random" selection of threads.  This is provided by Google and the most popular search terms. ;)

Thank you Reyth.
Not exactly what I am looking for, cause most people are watching index or the newest sites, but better than nothing.  ;)

Good question.
I believe that old good board browsing is the best option.
Just read the titles of topics and decide if you want to click on it :-)

Also you can use the search function if you are interested in specific keywords.
Tip: use the search from the homepage so all posts are included in the search.

Btw, if you follow Reyth's link and choose "everyone" then you'll see that guest users do not read only the latest topics.

There is a not very beautiful way to do it. Each thread has a unique number (forum gives a number to each thread in a incremental way). You can see in the URL that this one's is 1561, so old posts have lower number. You can go to random.org, take a number between 0 and 1561 and put --> http://forum.roulette30.com/index.php?topic=here the number.

With numbers from random.org it could be exactly what I was looking for - but not every number works.

That's because some threads are in the private section.

The secret circle. The solution of the roulette problem must be found there.  ;)

But what if threads are deleted or moved?  I would think the sequential ordering could be interrupted?

Moving topics doesn't change their number :-)
