A story of the drunk player ME!
« on: April 22, 2016, 11:15:14 AM »
It is some years ago when I was about 20, (in the late 1960). I could get into a Casino in Travemünde (no in Sweden a that time), with my passport. We my friend and I did not have much money (at the time DM).
I put the min bet on black (5 DM) and my friend call me, he had  a taxfree whiskey he got on the ferry from Trelleborg in Sweden. We Went to the bathroom and drinking from the bottle. When we went out, I saw a pile (ruff not in order) The dealer was fixing it up before next spin. I then remember and reach the table just after "No more bets". Black hit for the 9th time, and we were suddenly in position to extend our stay in Germany. If I were not drunk and young I would not wait NINE times on a MARTINGALE.

I live at the antipod from Sidney, and from Stockholm its about 600 km. I have been in our Capital twice in my Life. From my point in South of Sweden I have a few capital cities closer, Copenhagen is an hour a way, and I can just walk out 5 metes form my house and tell the busdriver Copenhagen please! Berlin is close too, like Amsterdam and some other larger cities than we have. Stockholm is a small Town comparing.

The last day of this month in Sweden is known to be filled with alcohol.
Copenhagen may not save you.  Not far from this Capital of Denmark, however, we find HELSINGØR.
TO BE OR NOT TO BE, you know.  This place is known for Shakespeare´s Hamlet. There is also a Casino there. I myself find it better than Casino Copenhagen.

As part of a Company visiting TRELLEBORG in Southern Sweden some years ago, I did not go back to Denmark, but chose  TT-Line and sailed to Travemünde. The famous Casino was still there. It is gone now.

In Germany  "ABER" means  BUT.
"ABERGLAUBEN" means SUPERSTITION.
The Casino in BREMEN you may find this funny text: ABERGLÄUBISCH ABER GLÜCKLICH".
(superstitiuos but happy). The Casino is happy to reward you if you are winning on plein (Straight Up) on the 13th in the month. You are rewarded with something BUBBLY, you know!  Champagne.
In Bremen I asked if it was possible to have a non-alcoholic gift instead. IT WAS NOT.

Still Casinos use alcohol as a potent weapon, and most players might be happy to use this drug.

PAROLI (Double Up after winning) requires nerves of steel, it is said.
I myself prefer betting RED og EVEN at the same time - and only double both here and there after winning both at the same time. Returning to minimum bets in all other cases.

A most sober approach :)

Some casinos i Europe has same odds on plein as in America, you are more or less more more, obligated to tip one of your chips. Last I visited a casino in Germany was in Hamburg, located in a hotel. They were using the  old system with 2 persons overlooking, one on a high chair and no cameras, Three dealers. Color chips you could get if you asked for, but very few used them. May be different nowdays. The design of the table was French ad in Prison twice.

Yes, the rules differ from place to place and time to time!
The minimum bet (Even Chances) in Germany is lower than in Sweden and Denmark as far as I have seen (not long ago I visited a rather futuristic Casino in Duisburg).
Nowadays even SPIELBANKEN have realized that it is a good idea to use Colour chips.

TIPPING DEALERS IN SWEDEN IS NOT ALLOWED  :)
