Title: Roulette is like smoking in many ways!
Post by: MickyP on December 07, 2017, 10:08:11 AM
This is a light hearted look at the similarities between playing roulette and smoking tobacco products. Simply for your reading pleasure.

We all have different reasons why we started playing roulette and in the same way smokers started smoking for different reasons too. Now in roulette you have different player types; AP, System and RNG. So too do you have different smoker types; Cigar, Cigarette and Pipe.
Roulette players like smokers try everything and settle for a play style that they are comfortable with. Cigarette smokers will latch onto a specific brand like a roulette system and as long as it feels good they will stick to the brand.
Cigar smokers are like AP in that they will carefully choose their cigars like they select the wheels to play on. They do not  smoke the entire cigar at once but select random times to puff away for short  periods constantly making sure that their cigar is burning evenly. They always study their cigar before flaming it up. Their choice of lighter is also critical; matches, gas lighter or Zippo Everything about smoking a cigar has been calculated to get the most enjoyable smoking experience.

System players are your cigarette smokers. The brand they select is mostly due to media advertising. Camel and Malboro smokers are the real men. Pity Chuck Norris didn't appear in a camel advertisement. Cigarette smokers will smoke more at certain times like after a cup of coffee or a meal. Winning roulette trends have these guys betting more and they praise their system for their good fortune. This leads to chain smoking until their Doctor tells them to stop or face death.

RNG players are your pipe smokers. They smoke alone, anywhere and at any time. They feel naked without their pipe nd tobacco pouch. Mixing their own tobacco to get a rich aroma that hangs in every room is their pride. Cleaning their pipe is a religion to them and they are proud of their ginger facial hair stained that way by the many hours of smoke from their pipe curling up their face. The constant  puffing on the pipe is like the hours spent in front of a computer.

Each smoker type has opinions about other smoker types. A cigar smoker will laugh and recall his younger days when he smoked Texan plain and vows never to go back to smoking cigarettes.

Now here is one for Mike:
Do past smoking habits influence what you will smoke tomorrow and please explain what "Triggers" the change.

I would compare it to the psyhodelic drugs users.
Some use it as the booster to their spiritual practice - ones in life and then they can enter the state drug provoking just by power of their own mind.... others are just junkies.
Sigarettes are not adequate example, because result is the same. If you compare money to health in roulette, some get more healthy,  wich is not very likely with tobacco smokers....
Roulette is a work to profit!!! Smoking is a way to get lung cancer...
Even in smoking, there are smokers and smokers.... it's not about what you smoke, but how. My grandfather used to smoke and drink and get women he wanted till 86... then he died from the knife in streetfight.

Spoken like a true cigar smoker MrPerfect. There is a degree of sophistication about cigar smokers... enjoy the cigar

If I were to use health as an example and the three player types had to visit a doctor it would go something like this:
The RNG player would draw up lists of doctors and compare their qualifications then visit a chosen doctor and visit another for a second opinion.
The system player would go straight to the nearest GP  (local doctor) and simply follow the doctors instructions.
AP will like the RNG player do some homework to qualify the doctor. They may also Google their symptoms. A visit to the chosen doctor will result in the AP giving himself/herself their own second opinion.

Sure, past smoking habits can influence what or if you will smoke in the future, but the concept of "trigger" doesn't apply because people have volition; they're not like the "triggers" a system player uses, which are purely mechanical. A visit to the doctor might "trigger" the thought that I should give up smoking, but nobody can force me to do that. Ironically, roulette behaves as though it has volition too, because sometimes the triggers appear to "work", and sometimes they don't.  :)

You see, no need for a second opinion when there's an AP in the house.

I guess the  moral of the story is don't smoke because you'll be plagued with different opinions as to why you should change your brand. Some may even suggest you should quit if you don't want to smoke cigars.

Hahaha some witty comments to gear up the Christmas cheer!

Second opinions are great but I need the cause to be addressed and not the symptoms.
