some of us good players must have tools to pass on to newbies and experience players as well as to how to become and be on the top of our game when we play.

I like to think that we are no different then anyone else who is to become the greatest in his field.
good practice habits have to play a very important part in our success.
I hope many of you can join in the discussion and present pointers and ideas, and be helpfull to many.

some of us may be on the wrong track I feel. by doing just that;

reading,playing,trying new systems on rx.
going from one method to the next.
going to the casino and never play a session at home.
always looking for that "new high", magic wand, secret that will "do it for me once I find it"

just imagine for a moment if a athete like Lebron James would do those things as a practice ritual only?
or the best of doctors in the world , not following their personal path, style, moving all the time from what they do to a new "method", constently changing their play?

so , what makes someone be the best at what he does is the question I like to ask many;

is it possible that "systems are over rated sometime", too much priorities on finding the ultimate one? that can go one for ever and eat up many years of your time when you could get better as working on just one or a couple of them at most. just a thought.

maybe playing in "real time", no simulator, the old fashion way, kitchen table, real chips, wheel, could that make a difference in our "view" and preparation for real life roulette?

time can be so slow in real time that it trows off many of us into the cleaner, because we dont know what to do with "waiting", since we are not use to do that. so we play crapy bets, and.....you know the rest of the story.

handling chips with your fingers is good for practice when you go play live. you have to count, be visual, be undisturbed by surrounding, very good ritual to do at home.

about be in shape phisically so you have focus power and feel good when you have to seat for hours, not moving a lot.
could that help? about laying off the news, and all the tv crap that whisper in our heads daily?

about practicing your bookeeping when you play a method so you know and see what the heck you are doing without depending of your memory?

it has to be of some value I believe.
be back later, my best.

I would try and write something profound here, but you already know my opinion!! and PRACTICE is key.
~ Knowing your stats, is key!
~ PRETEND you are playing with your MOMMA'S MONEY, is key.
~ MONEY MANAGEMENT / SCORE KEEPING, IS KEY!!!!!  AND THE GRAIL~
~ PRACTICING SELF CONTROL, THIS IS A BIGGIE!
~ NOT ALLOWING ANYONE TO CONVINCE YOU, THAT YOU ARE NOT GOING TO SUCCEED!!
~ DO NOT LET ANYONE GET INTO YOUR HEAD WITH NEGATIVE ADVICE!!

  Juice,

I would applaud the last 2 comments you wrote as high 10.  people can discourage you by telling you stuff such as';

listen, roulette is just a game, yes sometime you win, sometime you lose, but be realistic, in the long run, no one can come out ahead, just look at all the casinos around you , you think they were built out of winners??

I have heard that one many times my friend. casinos were built because of losers, not winners !
and who are those losers? mmm....... lets see;

lazy players who just want easy money without practicing.
players whom, yes, dont think for themselves and believe others without, (again) ,practicing what they learn.
unrealistic expectations; bringing a knife to a gun fight, or 100 $, to shoot for a 1000$. (yes it can happen some days, but not often okay?)
if every single game you were playing, you would play it with your Mama's money as Juice suggested, lol, maybe your game would be much better, who knows ? sometime we treat our money as just a "trial". and I have done that. but then the test should be at home, not in a casino. so again, PRACTICE.

BUT HOW DO WE BEGIN ALL THAT ??? WHERE SHOULD WE START IN OUR ROULETTE CARRIER ????

so lets said; about starting from our character's make-up ?

what type of person are we, that a method would be fitting our personnality?

KNOW THYSELF! a good friend told me.
do I have enough patience to seat for 8 hours?
should I play more of a "hit and run" strategy ?
is my attention spin very short and do i get tired very quickly?
do I enjoy long shot type play or do I prefer a study, slow, more reliable type method when I know how many units I can bring home each day of work?
what am I really good at? ( heard someone mentioned that as a business you should pick somewhat something you have some knowledge ,experience about). it helps to anderstand some angles.

Joe Montana wrote a book years ago about success. it mentioned that some of the best football players have great little rituals they do every single day. the small hobbits they repeat over and over enhance their inner power.
small every day things that dont take much time at all.
example'; lets said you are all ready busy with your roulette method, but one day you see another angle, a change you wish to try, but, you dont want to rock your method that you are doing right now, yet you really like to find out about this other new play you could add to your allready made up system. so now what?
about 20 minutes of it each day only? just do it every day. before you know it, you will generate enough data to give you a good sens of its value. and it wont screw up your other method in case it does not work.

chunking is the key to progress. we are all busy. but we love to test new things ,dont we ?
so we can do a little more and call it our "time of testing new things".
mac Donald do it before they try to sell anything new. so can we.
but we need to be organize. not acting like gamblers who have nothing but hope. we need results.
about a business plan? can that give us a sens of "clarity" into our goal?

about this one; finding someone that allready has success and get helped from that person?
that means you have to be humble and said; I would love to learn from you, would you be willing to....??
some players would do that. they are on this forum and I cant mention who they are. but search and you will find.

time for lunch, be back later.

Rinny, let's look at your core question first.....

....Always start with what you know, and what method you are the most comfortable with. If you can turn that into money, even 25$ an hour, then that is where you start. Upon that success, and I do mean CONSISTANT success, then all you need to do is scale it up, a bit at a time. Nothing big, maybe 5$/hr more, little by little. The patients has got to match the money you need to live, so if you think you are never going to get there, by increasing in small increments, just look at the down side, and that ought to scare the s*** out of you enough to take your time.

As for the introduction of NEW types of METHODS, well I think what you are trying to say is .......

When does your desire to expand your game, interfere with what is already working for you? And does that desire, to try new things, over saturate your mind, and cause you to second guess what you already know has been working?

Just my thoughts on this.....SCORE IT!
IF you can't SCORE IT, on paper, leave it alone. You, me, and every other mechanical player, must have the ability to know how to score keep the +'s and -'s, simple as that. You must be present at all times, even hit and run guys know exactly where they are at, money wise, at all times.

A GOOD PROBLEM TO HAVE..........
....let's say your biggest problem is OVER SATURATION with too many SOLID, WINNING, METHODS.
This is and should be your biggest PROBLEM!!
All GREAT approaches to the game, work in the short run, by that I mean in a couple of hundred spins cycle.
This is why I can not see testing millions of spins in a row to try and validate a GREAT STRONG METHOD, it is pointless, unless the A.P. guys need to do this, not sure, but for me, many short term tests in reasonably sized blocks, is the data I need to separate a good idea from a GREAT IDEA?

SO HOW DO WE CHOOSE THE DIRECTION??? WHICH WAY SHOULD I PLAY?..........
.....The answer is different for every body , but for me, I learned a long time ago that THERE IS ONLY ONE PERFECT PLAY IN FRONT OF YOU! AND IF YOU DO NOT SEE IT! SIT THIS ROUND OUT!!!!!   OR.........

PLAY BOTH SIDES OF A GREAT METHOD and SCORE KEEP IT correctly.

First decide the type of bet you are going to apply, i.e. the EC's , 2 to 1 , streets, double streets, etc. and have in advance a way to keep track of your wins and losses.

Everywhere you look on this and other forums, you will read, and should listen to a little bit of everything, but ,
this one is for SURE, one of the best consensus statements , you will hear.......

NO PROGRESSION CAN SAVE YOU WHEN THINGS GO SOUTH!!! (No negative one at least)

I agree with this for the most part. SO all we have is our wins and losses to keep us in the moment and our PRACTICED SKILL, to apply the stratagy needed to get back to even, or close anyway.

This is when you might want to switch up to another method, when your current one is in that ugly part of the cycle, that eventually kills all bankrolls. When you find your sweet spot in a different play you can make some adjustment to your recovery, i.e. Add an extra press or two.
This has to be done in two ways.....

1- know that you are struggling and don't be an ass and fight back against a game that has no idea you are losing!
All the money in the world can not buy you a win, you need to change lanes.

2- keeping your bet as flat as possible, to give the NEW CHANGED STRATAGY a chance to go to work!
Nothing good comes out of digging the hole ever deeper and ever quicker, just by raising your bet at an unrealistic pace.
The wins will eventually come, and you will be better for it because you didn't lose your mind along the way.

I guess that's it for now my friend, as always, your topics interest me, Best, juice
