Post that do not follow this simple rule may be deleted from now on.
The rule is:
STOP QUOTING PREVIOUS POSTS unless absolutely necessary.
Use the "REPLY" button to post a reply, not the  "QUOTE" button.

Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.

@kav >> I've only read a couple posts for this so forgive me if it was brought up. Lots of times (not always) when posting, I/we want to react/address to a PARTICLE members post (politely of course).

So if three posts back, I want to address something that Real stated, is that an issue if I quote HIM with the forum feature OR no quoting at all? I'm confused.

Ken,
That's ok if you only quote the point you want to address. It would be better though if you wrote
"Real,
Blah blah blah.."

The main problem is that many people use the "QUOTE" button instead of the "REPLY" button and they usually quote the immediately previous reply.

I've been on 10 roulette boards, 3 movie boards and an auto board. I have never seen rules for.....quote less.

The point of this is what?

MrJ,
In some boards people seem more careful and use "quote" only when really needed.
In other boards it seems that people press the "quote" button more easily than the "reply" button.

This is the point.

"Too much quoting is bad use of reading space, database resources and forum layout. And it gets too repetitive."

Wow, the space is so limited that we are supposed to avoid using quotes?

That's pretty pathetic don't you think?

Sorry, I agree with Real.

I've never heard of it BUT...it is your board kav.

This however I stand by >> the poster ABOVE ME belts out 20 sentences. I only need to quote (address) one of those sentences. What is the issue if I quote one sentence? Even if he is above me, so what?

I don't think anyone likes to read a board where everyone quotes previous posts and often quotes a series of previous replies. It is a mess. And the quoting poster actually forces the reader to read again something he has probably already read.
I'm a user of this (and other) forum and I hate when someone puts in my face for the 4rth time the immediately above post I just read.

Real, It is not the forum space that is limited, though database resources is a consideration. It is mostly about respecting the reading space of the readers screen. Today half of the visitors read the forum from a little mobile screen. It is a bad decision to clutter their screens with previous replies they have already read.

My concern (only concern) is that if I dont use the quote feature and just start babbling away.....anyone reading it (including the person it is intended for) has no idea whats going on. What is Ken talking about and WHO is his post directed to? Thats all I'm saying/asking.

Now its all coming together.

(kav....I quoted your post but TOOK OUT what I did not need. Everyone does (or should) do it like so. Am I wrong on this?)

Ken,

You do have a point. Here are my suggestions.
If you are referring to the immediately above post, your problem is solved - no need for quoting.
If you are referring to a very recent post, you can mention (@Name) the poster you are referring to.
If you want to address specific points to (or) a post which isn't visible, you can quote specific points of the related post.

What is not welcome is blindly quoting the whole post you are referring to and especially if it is immediately before yours. Like I said, some members were used to use the "quote" link instead of the "reply" link. I would like this to change.

MrJ,
Yes, you made a valid use of quoting in your last example.

If you want to free up some bandwidth then you ought to delete the following stupid thread, http://forum.roulette30.com/index.php?topic=1341.0

It's as stupid as the flat earth thread was on roulette cc.

Real,
I understand how you feel. Currently there is no forum rule against stupid posts, because stupidity in large part is something subjective. Not necessarily saying that the topic you referring to is stupid.
